TIPS for your PURGE:

1. did I use it / wear it this year?

2. is there a sentimental value that couldn’t be replaced / isn’t recorded somewhere else?

3. is it multi-purpose?

4. do i see myself packing and moving and unpacking this item?

5. can i picture myself missing it in 5 years?

Croquet & Croquettes all in one week

20111024-085351.jpg

another creative week outside the craftroom. In dad’s new living room, we revived, reframed & redisplayed some family photos! They are straighter than in the photo, I promise. We also did some local shopping & dad bought me these..

20111024-085703.jpg an antique croquet set!!! I’ve been asking for one to come to us for a while. This is the unpolished before photo. I introduced dad to stores for fishing gear but also CR’s best thrift store Habitat for Humanity. I’m still on the thrifting prowl for a new vintage hi fi but this was an awesome score. Thanks pa.

20111024-090108.jpg lastly, dad decided to reproduce his fav print of an oil painting by G.Fobis. Try as I might I couldn’t find the artist or his prints for sale online so we are illegally reproducing & enlarging it on canvas! Any suggestions to locate an original Fobis, please let me know…
Should be interesting as we handed the nice phototech man a laser 90s photo copy quality print of the original oil painting shown above. Photo ~ stock from Ontario during this summer’s cross Canada road trip! I’ll post the finish product / process in a month or so.

Major cabin fever set in yesterday. And it rained!!! I agreed to get up on my day off and get on the 8am ferry with my sweety, just so I could have the car! I spent the day doing errands then thrifting in CR, hoping for some creative inspirations.
Above are my finds! Who doesn’t love a bag of clown and barbie heads for 25 cents? Also a ziploc of new zippers for same. Best score was the pottery mug shown. It matches my Tlell bell which…. is also made by bottle and jug pottery! ~ my FAV pottery studio in Tlell, Haida Gwaii! It is stamped “I didn’t go to Expo”. Score for 10 cents! (the Bell came from a thrift store in Kimberley).

Heres an interesting link (& upside down post… classic HG)… Of my fav artists/ studios on Haida Gwaii, including my pottery crush.

As well I’m not sure what era or what I’ll do with it but the green pottery vase is pretty awesome. Thanxs Salal for modelling it (& laying on my chest as i text this entry from bed). Maybe for paint brushes but I’ll research it first.
